Advanced Animal Health
An internal medicine specialist provides advanced medicine for diseases affecting the kidneys and urinary tract, abdomen, lungs, thoracic, and treats immune-mediated diseases. Often their expertise is called on to confirm a diagnosis or develop new treatment options.
Whether during the middle of the night, weekends, or holidays, our Criticalist and team of highly trained emergency veterinarians and technicians are ready to care for you and your pet.
Specialty Services in Northern Utah
Dr. Terry joined the WestVet surgical team in 2016. His credentials include DVM, MS, and Diplomate, American College of Veterinary Surgeons. Dr. Terry has extensive involvement with research projects and has published articles in peer-reviewed journals.
Minimally Invasive Surgery
WestVet Surgeons have undergone advanced training to offer less invasive surgical options, including arthroscopy, laparoscopy, and thoracoscopy. These therapies are meant to reduce operative pain, improve visualization and better patient outcomes.
Additionally, we use advanced imaging such as fluoroscopy to place orthopedic implants through tiny incisions in the skin. Similarly, advanced imaging is used in interventional procedures for stent placement in the tracheal, urethra, and ureters.
Cutting Edge Therapies
WestVet surgeons offer state-of-the-art therapies including cartilage grafting (OATS), regenerative medicine (platelet rich plasma, stem cell therapy), joint replacement, interventional procedures. Additionally, because assuring your pet’s safety and comfort is a top priority, we utilize advanced patient monitoring with modern anesthetics to limit patient risk and provide a variety of pain management techniques, including:
- continuous rate intravenous infusions of pain medications
- epidural anesthesia
- local anesthetic nerve blocks
- oral medications
- pain patches
After surgery, we provide 24-hour care, to ensure recovering pets can have IV fluid support, tailored pain protocols, and any other follow up care as appropriate for their condition.
